What a strange title for a blog post right? Seems super counter to...well basically being a female (or human in general in most cases). And how delicious does that picture look.
Well, this caused me to have a BAD night last night.
I admit, leaving this on your nightstand is just ASKING for trouble and I normally don't indulge in chocolate RIGHT before bed time.
But last night was an exception.
And I paid for it.
Let me just say that I love this chocolate. I don't particularly care for spicy things, but it helps me to limit the amount of chocolate that I eat. So I usually end up eating one square and I have a nice, warm aftertaste of spice & chocolate. Nice combination, really. And that's all I had last night.
But here's the problem:
According to every article in existence on the subject, eating chocolate before bedtime is disruptive to sleep. This article says, "Almost all chocolate contains some level of caffeine, and on top of that, it’s loaded with stimulants like theobromine, which is known to make your heart race a little bit"
Not only did I have the hardest time getting to sleep, but I had a very hard time staying asleep. Moreover, I had terrible nightmares on top of everything.
So some advice: If you happen to be super sensitive to caffeine, stay away from chocolate before bedtime.
Also, if you are having any sleep issues at all, check your diet. You'd be surprised how much what you eat interferes with your sleep patterns!
Cause let's be honest:
